The Gradual Path

—

Gradual Path supports both inner and outer journeys through coaching, courses, pilgrimages, and service projects grounded in Tibetan Buddhist wisdom and integrated with modern psychology.

Dr Miles Neale

Dr. Miles Neale is a Buddhist psychotherapist, author, and teacher whose work bridges Tibetan Buddhist wisdom and modern psychology.

The origins of Gradual Path began in 2018 after a transformative pilgrimage to Nepal led by Tibetan master Geshe Tenzin Zopa, where Dr. Neale launched his book Gradual Awakening at Kopan Nunnery in Kathmandu.

Inspired by the momentum of that journey, a small community formed to continue studying the lam rim, or “gradual path” of Tibetan Buddhism, through a structured program of teachings, meditation, pilgrimage, and service.

That initiative evolved into Gradual Path, an international learning community offering courses, pilgrimages, coaching, and service projects designed to support inner transformation and compassionate action in the world.

The Gradual Path is rooted in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition of lam rim, the “stages of the path,” which views transformation as a lifelong process of learning, reflection, and compassionate action. By integrating contemplative practice with insights from modern psychology, Gradual Path offers a space for inner development while encouraging meaningful engagement with the world.

At the heart of this work is the belief that genuine change unfolds gradually. Rather than seeking quick solutions, we emphasise steady study, contemplative practice, and the cultivation of compassion in everyday life. Through community, service, and shared learning, the path becomes not only a personal journey but a contribution to the wellbeing of others.
